The AYA cancer network has partnered with CanTeen's national youth advocacy group - Listen Up - to ensure young people and their whānau are heard and that they are provided with the opportunity to actively participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of national AYA cancer initiatives and activities. To date the group has directly influenced the direction of the AYA Standards of Care with up to 80 young people involved and consulted in the development of these.
Listen Up is a group of youth advocates who represent the views and perspectives of young people living with cancer across New Zealand. The forum was established to give young people a platform to drive change in the matters that most affect them. They do this by using the power of the group voice and collective experience to identify challenges, raise awareness and affect action. For more information please contact Listenup@canteen.org.nz.
